Associate Professor Martin Porr has won an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Research Fellowship . The fellowship, which will commence in August 2015 will see Martin based in Germany for 18 months working at the Senckenberg Museum and Research Institute in Frankfurt and the University of Tuebingen .
Both the Senckenberg Museum and Research Institute in Frankfurt and the University of Tuebingen are part of a project funded by the Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften on ‘ The Role of Culture in Early Expansions of Humans’ . Martin will be based at the Institute of Prehistory, Early History and Medieval Archaeology in Tübingen and his main research collaborators will be Dr Miriam Haidle and Prof Nicholas Conard. The research project which Martin is undertaking is titled 'The archaeology of irrationality: Interrogating Palaeolithic art and modern human origins'.
This fellowship will enable Martin to develop ongoing collaborative links between UWA, the Centre for Rock Art Research and Management and one of the globally leading archaeological research institutions.
