The AMEB would like to congratulate Shuan Hern Lee on emerging as the first prize winner of the 2017 International e-Piano Competition in Minneapolis, USA.
Finalists had to compete in 5 rounds, starting with a CD recording that lead to the Disklavier round in Sydney in March 2017. After the selection round in Sydney, 26 competitors from all over the world moved on to the first round in the USA where 12 finalists were selected for the semi-finals in Minnesota. From there, only 5 finalists were selected to compete in the grand final where they had to perform a concerto movement with the Symphony Orchestra of Minnesota in USA.
Shaun Hern was the youngest performer in the competition and in addition to winning first prize of $10,000 USD was also awarded the Best Performer of the Piano Variations Prize of $500 USD.
