UWA students Alexander Rohl, Sandra Goh, Liam Kearney and Evan Blandin de Chalain
Achievement:
Four UWA students were recently announced as 2018 Westpac Asian Exchange Scholars. Offered in partnership with eight Australian universities including UWA, the scholarships will give the recipients the opportunity to study for up to a year at a leading university in China, Singapore or Hong Kong, and include an eight-month leadership development program.

UWA System Health Lab Research Engineers Alain Bartels and Aiden Taba
Achievement:
Two UWA engineers have been awarded the Unearthed Community Legend Award. Unearthed is an Australian-based technology and innovation services platform that connects challenges facing the resources sector to technology entrepreneurs.

UWA student Bronte Van Helden
Achievement:
Bronte has been awarded a PhD top-up scholarship from The Western Australian Biodiversity Science Institute. Over the next three years Bronte will provide critical information about how different types of urban areas differ in their ability to support animal diversity.

UWA Research Fellow Mitali Sarkar-Tyson
Achievement:
Mitali is a recipient of The Defence Materials Technology Centre (DMTC) annual Awards for Excellence program. Mitali was presented with the night’s Project Leadership Award for her outstanding leadership of a project focused on delivering new anti-virulence compounds, which are active against potential bio-warfare agents including Burkholderia pseudomallei.
